Call for Exhibition Proposals 2016
Kirkland Arts Center (KAC) is a non-profit arts school and contemporary art gallery. Our mission is to promote artistic mastery and public participation in the visual arts through innovative classes, contemporary exhibitions, and events.
The Kirkland Arts Center Gallery supports local artists and curators by providing a platform for engaging exhibitions which inspire art appreciation and creativity in the Kirkland arts community.
Our gallery schedule is currently full through February 2016, but we are currently seeking exhibit proposals for the remaining 2016 calendar year. Proposals will be considered for group or solo exhibitions for an 8 -10 week period and exhibitions in all media are eligible. Curators are encouraged to include an educational component (i.e. workshop, artist lecture, roundtable discussion) in their proposal to foster dialogue and further expand KAC’s educational programming. The curator’s work can be included in the exhibition as long as this role as been thoroughly discussed with the other exhibition artists.
Proposals are due by September 1, 2015. Late proposals will not be considered.
KAC also provides exhibition postcards, additional PR and online marketing, an opening reception, and support in seeking individual and corporate sponsorship for exhibitions. KAC takes 40% commission on artwork sales during the exhibition.
Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday from 11am – 6pm and Saturdays from 11am – 5pm if you would like to view the space.
Curators must submit the following to be eligible:
1. Curator’s Statement detailing the proposed exhibition and including images from the exhibition’s artists (please include estimated price ranges for work when possible). This statement should include your key theme/concept, why this theme is important or unique and why KAC’s gallery is a good fit for this concept? (1 page or less)
2. Curator’s current resume
3. A brief (1 paragraph) description of a potential educational component or event (i.e. workshop, lecture, interactive)
4. (If applicable) a list of artists included in the exhibition proposal and their resumes
5. Exhibit budget including shipping, travel, educational component and miscellaneous expenses
