Throughout the year of 2020 all of the Kirkland Arts Center exhibition schedule will tie back into the theme of Heritage & Hindsight. To kick off the year we’ll begin with an examination of where we are now within our present moment in history. As we stand on the threshold of the present we ask “How did we get here, and what is the future going to look like with the foundation we’ve laid?” Climate change, political unrest, scientific and technological progress, gender and racial equity, artificial intelligence and connectivity. What lead us to this moment in time and how will it continue to lead us? Where are we taking it? Two exhibiting artists will be chosen for $150 Juror’s Choice Awards and one artist will also receive a People’s choice award of a small solo exhibition in 2021.
Submissions for this exhibition should address, in some way, where we are in this moment in history, how we got here, and/or where we might be heading.
The jurors for this exhibition are KAC’s exhibitions team J. Gordon, Curator and Exhibition Designer, and Geneva Rose Baldauf, Exhibitions and Education Coordinator.
