Artist’s Statement

There is something that rings true to me when I look at these kids, whom I choose to paint. They remind me of my own, forgotten about until now, experiences when I was this age. This series explores the fear, confusion, burgeoning confidence and hope at this time of of their lives.

About the Artist

Jill Cammarano was born in Akron, Ohio in 1971.   She was  raised in New York and received her BFA from Parsons School of Design in 1993. While her early focus was in the fine arts, she transitioned to working in post-production, computer graphics and game art for companies such as Disney, IBM and Microsoft. She moved to Seattle in the late 90’s and has been residing the past 10 years in Duvall, WA with her husband Ben, son Nicolo and twin daughters Melanie and Leah.
