Rupa Palasamudram has been exploring with clay for 14 years. She is primarily focused on making day-to-day functional ware on the wheel. She likes to alter the thrown forms to create unique pieces with function and aesthetic in mind. Rupa is currently working on constructing functional ware using slabs of clay with an emphasis on texturing. Some of the potters who have influenced her are Susan Beecher, Ellen Shankin, Sandy Pierantozzi, Neil Patterson, and her long time teachers Maryanne White and Tess Lawlor. She also enjoys teaching crafts and clay to young kids and is “inspired by their fresh, unique creative explorations.”
